The Doctor (Il Dottore nell'adattamento italiano della serie) è un Time Lord di Gallifrey, nell'Universo di Doctor Who.

Il dottore dai mille volti[]
Si tratta del protagonista della serie Doctor Who, un Time Lord che viaggia per l'universo alla ricerca di anomalie spazio temporali a bordo del suo Tardis. Le sue avventure spesso lo portano su di una delle tante versioni della Terra del suo universo narrativo, in particolare a Londra e all'incontrare e allearsi con svariati umani che divengono suoi compagni di viaggio.
Come tutti i Time Lord, il dottore è virtualmente immortale, poiché quando la sua vita sta per giungere al termine effettua la cosiddetta rigenerazione, cambiando aspetto, personalità e alle volte anche etnia e sesso esteriore. Nonostante questi cambiamenti significativi, il Dottore rimane sempre l'individuo positivo che è stato rigenerazioni addietro, gentile ed eccentrico.
